Delivery of s/v Windseeker, November 2009

We began looking for another sailing vessel nearly 1 1/2 years ago. Jim Elliott with Gratitude Yachting Center, Rock Hall MD http://www.gratitudeyachting.com/ has been very patient with us as we looked, and looked, and looked some more for just the right boat.

Our pre purchase survey completed by Steve Sanders,SAMS with East Coast Surveying revealed a long list of items needing attention. Gratitude Yachting Center began work quickly on the punch list and worked diligently to insure we could close within a reasonable time frame.

We closed on the purchase of s/v Windseeker IP 38-168 at the Anapolis Boat show in October 2009. . We are thrilled to have upgraded from the Catalina 310 to the IP 38 and look forward to sharing our adventures with you !

After closing, the punch list repairs was addressed by the staff at Graditude Yachting Center. Although there was a long list of repairs, the major issues included replacing the penant on the center board which has worn down to a thread, the removal and replacement of the generator, replacement of the knot reader, and installation of a sail management system (we decided on a Dutchman)

After the work was completed in Rock Hall, the vessel headed north to Worton Creek for installation of a new Nor Pro generator http://www.4norpro.com to replace the unit that was spent. We decided on the Nor Pro after consideration of cost, the attractive 5 year warranty and the yanmar engine on the Navigator unit. Tom and John at Worton Creek Marina http://www.wortoncreek.com/ (Nor Pro dealers, Chestertown, MD) installed the new generator. After calling today, the generator has been installed, and its voltage is being tested. The boat should be good to go by this weekend.

It is my hope that we take delivery on Saturday and enjoy the expected warm weather as we head south to Deale. We have lots to learn about this boat and will begin the process of investigationg systems and their functionality to determine what needs to be repaired verses replaced.

As we prepare to get the vessel on the hards for the winter, it is my hope to get some fall season sailing in !!
